Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Art Donations

Why is there a pre-selection process for art this year?

Due to the overwhelming number of pieces submitted last year, as well as space constraints, we have decided to limit the number of pieces to approximately 150. Art will be selected according to such criteria as originality, innovation and commercial appeal, to maximize funds raised for Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Sciences Centre. Pre-selection is a common practice at similar charitable events.

Who will determine which pieces are chosen for sale at the art auction?

The Muse ’05 art committee will select the pieces, based upon pre-approved selection criteria.

Who decides the minimum bid for each piece?

The Muse ‘05 art committee will determine the opening bids.  Please bear in mind that the minimum bids are set to “get the ball rolling”.

What is a “ready-to-display” format?

If you are submitting a painting, a photograph or an art piece otherwise meant to be hung on a wall, it must be donated in a format that can be readily displayed at the auction with a hook or nail. You are free to submit a framed piece, a stretched canvas or a matted piece but all must be configured in advance to be easily affixed to a wall in the usual manner. Loose pieces of paper, canvas or photos are not acceptable formats.

What cause will benefit from the art auction proceeds?

Funds raised at Muse ‘05 will be donated to the hospital’s new Trauma Centre, which will provide emergency care to people across the province with critical injuries.

Who are the New Leaders?

New Leaders of Sunnybrook & Women's Foundation is a group of young professionals who develop and organize events to raise funds and generate awareness for Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Sciences Centre.
